Welsh Chapels

This lovely chapel is in the village of Laleston. This is near Wigfach, where we stay in south Wales, close to Porthcawl.

Just off the A48 from Swansea east across South Wales.

Now it is a down at heel, disused and weed-strewn. It began Horeb Methodist Chapel was built in 1831 and modified in 1852  when they added a schoolroom and house.

Through the window you appreciate a simple Gothic style, remarkably the building is Grade 2 Listed, as a well-preserved early nineteenth-century chapel.

Drawing this chapel has reawakened my love of welsh chapels, their balance, simplicity and defiant demeanour.
