April 18
So this is Sunday morning 08:30 local time in Dubai.
Return to Dust – 7 years on
“The 2010 eruptions of Eyjafjallajökull were volcanic events in Iceland which, although relatively small for volcanic eruptions, caused enormous disruption to air travel over an initial period of six days in
April 2010.”

The other day I found my diary and drawings . . . I was 5,969 miles away in HK working with BBC colleagues.
Now I was in Dubai.
April 18 We
were lucky to get any flight out of Hong Kong last night.
The general plan was to keep moving north with the eventual idea of crossing into southern
Europe.
Sunday is a day in the office.
A trolley dash round the Mall of the
Emirates to purchase a Moleskine as my current one only has 4 pages left!
Tonight
or rather 2am we fly to Istanbul. The flight is overbooked so we will check in
three hours early. Like thousands of people across the world we are stranded
and moving snail-like; a small platoon in some obscure scene in the 100 Years
War.
