Pebbles and Purse

Collected in February

Clarence Ellis' book - a delightful read
Down on the beach it is great to explore for really pretty pebbles. Staying down in south wales near the storm beaches between Porthcawl and Ogmore we go pebbling quite a bit.

My enjoyment is aided by a copy of The Pebbles on the Beach by Clarence Ellis.

In the introduction Clarence comments
'It is astonishing how few there are who roam the many lovely beaches of this island in search of pebbles. Yet there must be untold thousands who spend their holiday hours on the beach looking at, handling and often throwing pebbles.'
The Pebbles on the Beach  Clarence Ellis Faber and Faber.

Another shoreline delight is the Mermaid's Purse or sometimes called a Devil's Purse. It is in fact a casing that surrounds the eggs of sharks and skates that have hatch and now live in the seas.
