A ROTTEN YEAR FOR TOMATOES

A ROTTEN YEAR FOR TOMATOES
I think many gardeners have been suffering this year disappointed, with their crops of vegetables. My Dad is a case in point, every year he produces a small but perfectly formed crop of tomatoes, and indeed last year we had a bumper harvest! But this year, due to one thing and another the weather, the snails it all went wrong! No choice but to pick those tomatoes we had.

Looking at these small tomatoes in that big glass bowl, some green, some red some in between; they made a lovely picture!

And soon with apples, raisins, brown sugar, shallots and ginger added we make a wonderful confection known as chutney.

This wonderful confection will grace our cheese and biscuits in the winter months!
