Creativity Guidelines

Apart from expert tuition, inspiring my output, pushing me to push the boundaries, Christine Lock aka La Presse de Lock also follows strict guidelines in providing the right creative environment in her studio - specifically
1. A constant stream of fresh coffee and on occasion with home made biscuits
2. Outdoor working areas (with view of the Thames) when the sun shines - shown here the view from the studio balcony
3. Excellent luncheons, two courses, - featured a main course: delicious red pesto tarte avec Chèvre.

Prior Planning and a couple of near misses
More from the at the Presse de Lock - The final push, in terms of preparing the major pieces for the October Exhibition, three days more, starting yesterday, Friday.
Walked in with a plan.

Yesterday, got lots done.
Today - the piece featuring Sydney, that I thought was going to be so easy, turned into a nightmare. Then Buenos Aires did not work out and needed my teacher/mentor/guide (phew) Christine's calming intervention. All hands to the pump and the end results were good. Sydney and BA featured at the top of this post. X

Taking Stock with Lock
I avoid examining my work as it involves two uncomfortable activities: Standing Still and thinking.
Christine (Lock) suggested with her gossamer-touch, that we take stock of the print making todate.
So, six months of work, tution, guidance, suggestion, critique, encouragement, praise, mutual respect; a new and joyous relationship.
So, the output?
Terrific; 12 cities captured (28 x 46 cm) in colour, vibration and warmth. Each different, each attached to a single thread: enthusiasm.
Additionally 6 more pieces are soon to be given the finishing touch through the Press and six more days of press time booked to complete the representation of 26 places, journeys and priviledged encounters of which 18 journeys will be chosen.
In my line of business (trainer - the day job) I am accorded with some status. In January, in India, I was accorded with the title 'Guru'. I am nothing, compared with Christine Lock; tutor, teacher, cajole-er, friend, equal and master. I am totally sure of one thing: I still have much to learn.

More press work
My printwork at Christine Lock's press in Marlow continues to grow in terms of techniques and ideas. During last weekend's session I was working on introducing some figure work into the foreground of some pieces I had done sometime back.
It's done by taking figure drawings, from my Moleskines, distilling them down to basic shapes, silhouettes, inking them up and putting them through the press on top of the image already there. Early results are insteresting and add a new twist to the journey in monoprint.
The figures add a engaging ambiguity to the work - another dimension.

Hello from Hannover
Yes it has two 'n' s sorry, reference the mis-spelling in my last post. Strange to wake up again, in a bed, on a different continent. After breakfast and the bonds of email we headed over to the airport to discover we have all been confirmed on a flight to London this evening. Euphoria and incredulity in the same moment.
Then the alternative planning in case the flight is cancelled. So we are closer but still very far away. Team (featured) happy however some unwellness now appearing. We wait until 13:00 the next point in time when things be come more or less certain.

Print Making: away from the press
Over the weekend, and with a few more shades of ink at my disposal I created some work in the studio at home, for further development when I am back at the Press with Christine Lock.
Initial results pleasing as shows how colour to give a particular sense of the place, the difference between northern europe and the west coast of the USA
