BACK TO LIFE

It was great to discover a life drawing group close to work and I went along last Tuesday! Brilliantly organised by David, excellent model called Clifford, great draw-ers and tea and biscuits at the interval. I shall return

The Darkness of Commuting

. . . Is now ready to depart . . .
. . . Security announcement . .
. . . Destroyed without notice . .
All we do is stand,
And wait.
For January to end.
Dressed in beetle black, we carry Friday flowers.
Darkness.
All scurry,
Platform. Carriage. Seat.
January
Endless, darkness, darkness.

English Cathedrals

So the plan, hitherto not revealed here, is to visit all 43 cathedrals in England.

English Cathedrals - each one has something special about it, each has something to remember. This Easter we knocked a couple more off the list, in London St Paul's - the only cathedral on the list that was truly the work of one man - Sir Christopher Wren. A sunny day in during Easter Week (unlike freezing May 9th) a large crowd - with an entrance fee to match (£12.50) - this wonderful church is a visual feast - English Renaissance at its very best.

More time at the Lock Press

Christine and I went to Tokyo for two hours - to Shibuya to be precise. Our session last Saturday afternoon centred on my turning a 2006 drawing I made of the walkways that weave themselves around the JP Rail Station at Shibuya into a piece of work.

Featured here is the intial work-in-progress.

Tokyo, the first of 25 places around the world, that over the next five months, will play a unique role in my next exhibition at the Circus Gallery in London this coming October.

OMG we have a plan Houston.

City Spotlight: Singapore

Singapore snapshot. Breathtakingly clean. Singapore is more of a corporation than a country and everyone is 'on message' even the nice people at passport control.
My favourite stop is morning coffee at a one of those shophouses off Beach Road. My favourite view the sun breaking through the darkest thunder clouds after rain storm blows through the downtown skyscaper district.

With special thanks to the person in Singapore who commented on my Paris Breakfast piece.

Coffee Society

Earlier this week discovered Lantana, Charlotte Place, just off Googe Street.

Exceptional Espresso. Time Out Favourite Cafe of the Year 2009. Run by Australian Shelagh Ryan who is determined to make London a better place by serving quality, no-nonsense food (I had the banana bread) and proper coffee to the people. We are blessed!
Drawing features Shelagh in action 9/2/2010

Whitney, Britney, Lady Gagga: Joining the dots

A magic moment this morning. Whitney, Britney and Lady Gagga, by chance on the same playlist on my iPhone. Great singers, great music and that I am glad no one else is in the office yet, so no one is embarrassed by my dancing!

Catwalk Claws

Wandering through iTunes looking for podcasts on fashion I discovered Style.com http://www.style.com/fashionshows/collections/S2010RTW/

The online home of Vogue and its clan. Now no excuse not to know everything about what is going on with the Collections - the three minute fashion films are wonderful!

Heavenly Bodies 1

Once in a while I see the perfect photograph and have to turn it into a painting. Here is a composition that is flawless. A a piece of art who knows where it will end?
